We annually offer workshops and training opportunities for landowners, teachers and the general public on varied subjects. Subjects vary from chainsaw safety, tree and plant identification, forest land planning, controlling invasive species, encouraging wildlife, to curricula for teachers to use with students.

Spring bird walk with rick fare

Location: 3606 Dyer Lake Rd. Burlington, WI Join Hoy Audubon's Rick Fare for a walk through the trails of Seno Woodland Center. Enjoy the sights and sounds of May in SE Wisconsin and identify native and migratory birds guided by a birder with 30+ years of experience. Bring a pair of binoculars and get acquainted with your local feathered friends!

monarch Magic! - Monarch Rearing Workshop
Date: Thursday June 27th 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Location: 3606 Dyer Lake Rd. Burlington, WI Soar on over to Seno Woodland Center to learn about North America’s most recognized and loved insect, the Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus)! Participants will learn about the Monarch Butterfly’s life cycle, habitat, migration, and tagging. We will take you on a walk around Seno Woodland Center’s prairie to identify and learn about milkweed, a plant vital to the Monarch’s survival. During our walk we will gather eggs and all stages of a monarch caterpillar and learn how to raise these caterpillars into butterflies. Each participant/family/group will build a Monarch rearing box to take home! This program is offered in partnership with the Sierra Club - Southeast Gateway Group.
Please note that registration is to reserve materials for a rearing box and not a per-person fee! Each $25 registration covers costs of supplies to build one rearing box. Please share with us the number of people in your group via the appropriate field when registering. |

Sessions on body mechanics, personal protective equipment, necessary tools, saws, tree felling, and limbing, bucking, and topping Level 2 Level One Review. Maintenance, hands-on filing, carburetor adjustment, limbing techniques, precision felling assessment, and precision at the stump, including notching, hinge, species differences, and terrain.
